Frequently Asked Questions
The following FAQ should help to answer any questions you may have about our products and services. If you have any other questions that are not covered here then please do not hesitate to call us on (020) 8907 8631 or contact us online and we will be happy to help.
How do I order your cakes? You can order set designs from our online selection of cakes, cupcakes or brownies or feel free to contact us to discuss your requirements. The majority of orders are custom designed. Please note that all orders are not considered final until confirmed by Tasty Little Cakes. If you do not receive a confirming email within 24 hours of placing your order, please call us. Payment for online cakes must be completed at the time of ordering.
How much notice do you require?Fridays, Saturdays and holidays book up quickly so place your order EARLY (a week or more in advance). Otherwise 4 days is typically enough notice. Custom designs and orders over 5 dozen require a minimum of 2 weeks notice. If we can squeeze in a last-minute order we will, so don't hesitate to call.
What is your minimum order? One box containing one type of cake, e.g. one dozen regular cupcakes, two dozen mini cupcakes or one dozen brownies. We cannot mix flavours in a box as the home-recipes are for set quantities and made specifically for your order.
How do I pay?All orders processed through the website will require full payment via our Paypal system. Any other orders require a 50% deposit at the time of booking and the remaining balance paid 3 weeks before the delivery date - or the full balance if placed within 3 weeks of the delivery date. This will ensure the date is kept reserved for you. An invoice will be emailed to you stating payment options. Cancellation charges apply - these are 50% of the total order if it is more than 21 days to the delivery date, or 100% of the total order if it is less than 21 days to the delivery date. Deposits are non-refundable and non-transferable.
What type of payment do you accept? Our preferred method of payment for orders is an online/telephone bank transfer or cash in advance. Online orders must be paid via paypal, which accepts most major credit cards. Payments via credit card over the phone will incur a 3.5% surcharge.
How should I store my cakes and how long will they stay fresh? As our cakes are made from scratch with no artificial preservatives our Tasty Little Cakes are best eaten as soon as possible. However, cakes and cupcakes will keep for an additional 2-3 days from the date of delivery if stored in their original box and placed in a cool location out of the sun (not the fridge as this could make them stale or could affect any fondant decorations). Try to avoid an air-tight container as it too may affect the decorations or cake cases. Brownies will keep for an additional 3-4 days and can be stored in their original box or an air-tight container, in or out of the fridge.
What ingredients do you use?We pride ourselves in providing a high quality product with high quality ingredients. We use locally sourced free-range eggs (supplemented with supermarket free-range eggs when demand is high), a mixture of British/Organic/Fair-trade sugar, flour, butter and milk, no-cholesterol oil, home-made vanilla extract (does contain alcohol), un-waxed lemons, organic peanut butter, and without any artificial preservatives. We are very conscious of our carbon footprint and aim to source British products as much as possible. A full list of ingredients for a particular cake can be supplied upon request.
Do you make egg-free, gluten-free, dairy-free or nut-free cakes? We can currently offer egg-free, gluten-free and dairy-free vanilla or chocolate flavoured cakes or cupcakes. We cannot offer a 100% nut-free cake as we do use nuts in our kitchen. Any special dietary requirements should be discussed over the phone and not ordered online. We can currently offer egg-free vanilla or chocolate cupcakes. We hope to add gluten-free chocolate cupcakes in the near future. Unfortunately none of the slices or muffins can be produced this way at this time. We cannot offer a 100% nut-free cake as we do use nuts in our kitchen. contact us to discuss further.
